Queenstown to Treble Cone Road Map

Treble Cone is the largest of the four major ski areas easily accessible from Queenstown and Queenstown Airport. Treble Cone is located 90km north of Queenstown along some classically kiwi routes including all the mountains, rivers, lakes and sheep stations expected from a nation known for its natural beauty. 

There's a variety of ways to travel from Queenstown to Treble Cone including self driving (rental cars available from Queenstown Airport or township), daily shuttle buses or a unique scenic flight landing you at the base of Treble Cone's access road. 

SHUTTLE TO TREBLE CONE

Express sHUTTLE FROM QUEENSTOWN TO TREBLE CONE 

New for 2017, in partnership with Go Bus, we will be operating a daily Queenstown Express Shuttle bus.
Running daily from 1st July, the difference with our new service is that we will pick up in one spot in Queenstown and then once more on route in Frankton, then straight over to the snowy peaks of TC. Taking a total time of around 90 minutes, this is a convenient, fast way to get to and from Treble Cone.

Dates: 1 July - 3 September.
Departure time: 7.45am from out side the Queenstown isite with one stop in Frankton, then travels directly to the mountain and leaves Treble Cone at 4pm to return to Queenstown.

BOOKING PROCESS

Transport on the Treble Cone Express shuttle service between Wanaka and the mountain can be booked through the following locations:

  • Treble Cone Wanaka Office: +64 3 443 1406 (Open 7am – 10am and 3pm – 6pm daily)
  • Guest Services at Treble Cone: +64 3 443 7443 (Open 8am – 4pm daily)
  • Queenstown iSite: +64 3 442 4100 (Open 8.30am – 6.30pm daily)

When booking a seat on this service you will be asked to select a date, a service (based on TC Town Office departure time) and a pick up location where you will board the bus. You must also select a downhill service departure time to ensure a seat is reserved for you.  If during your day at Treble Cone you’d like to change onto a different downhill departure time, please simply visit Guest Services on the mountain or phone +64 443 7443 to check availability.

All of the major car rental companies including Jucy Car Rentals are available for collection from Queenstown Airport. 

There are two routes to drive from Queenstown to Treble Cone.

The most popular route from Queenstown to Treble Cone takes you over the historic and incredibly scenic Crown Ranges where you will see Queenstown from new heights. Try keeping your eyes on the road as inbound planes descend into the valley, paragliders hover over Queenstown, and boats cruise Lake Wakatipu.

From Queenstown to Treble Cone over the Crown Range is 90 minutes passing through the small historic town of Cardrona and the beautiful alpine town of Wanaka. On snowy days, the alternative route via Cromwell keeps your elevation low, avoiding the possible need for fitting chains on the Crown Range.

From Queenstown, Treble Cone is a 90 minute drive or 15 minute flight over some of New Zealand’s most beautiful and rugged terrain. On the flight you will soar above other Queentown ski fields, Lake Wanaka and Mt Aspiring national park and save time better spent enjoying the snow.
