Treble Cone Hosting Beginners Experience

7 July 2016

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand – Despite limited snow coverage at Treble Cone, the team will be welcoming first time skiers and snowboarders, this Friday (8th July 2016), to learn, enjoy and progress in their chosen snow sport.

Recent snowmaking has allowed the Nice ‘n’ Easy Platter and Carpet area to be opened, this beginners’ space is an uncrowded and sheltered area, ideal to learn the basics.  The highly qualified instructors of our Snow Sports School will be providing First Time and Beginners Packages plus Group and Private Lessons. These will run between 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm.

In addition to Snow Sport Lessons, The Cheeky Kea will also be open at the Base Building with fresh homemade baking, a delicious lunch menu and the full flavour of a barista made Allpress coffee from 10am till 3:30pm. The Shop at Treble Cone will also be opening for guests to get their snow sport accessories and souvenirs. The Town Office will continue to operate between 8:30am - 5pm.

An extra area created for Snow Play has been provided, free for families visiting Treble Cone. This will be next to the plaza seating area and will have snow features for the children and TC Cat will be entertaining our guests.

“Providing this Beginner Experience and opening up the lower mountain is a really positive step,” commented Jackie van der Voort, Treble Cone CEO. “By providing these packages we hope to increase the positive vibe in the ski industry and with our customers in the region.”

The Treble Cone team of snow makers and groomers are working hard to get the mountain ready, with the snow guns pumping overnight and during colder parts of the day, including at base level. The TC team will advise customers on the status of the mountain and new opening date via the TC website, social media and local media.

There will be no backcountry access for safety reasons as we are prepping the mountain for Opening. There will be no skis on the Snow Play area as this area is reserved for family play.
