Ice Carving 2013

For three spectacular blue bird days, Treble Cone hosted four local ice sculturers for the 2013 Treble Cone Ice Carving competition.

Starting with blocks of ice 1m x 40cm x 40cm in diamiter, Chris Riley, John-Jo Riston, Shaun Brown and Lucy Waters created works of liquid art that will be on display over the first week of the New Zealand school holidays (13/7/2013 - until they melt).

The artists were as creative with their tool selection as they were with their sculptures, using a combination of saws, drills, chisels and blow torches to chip, hollow and melt away at the ice.
