Freshlines 29th July 2010

It’s been a huge and busy week since the last Freshlines with three fronts topping us up with snow – yay!!  The cold temps have kept the snow really dry all over the mountain and have gifted the boy’s optimum snowmaking conditions. This of course means perfect soft corduroy in the mornings and maintaining well all day.  The general vibe is that there is some awesome skiing and riding to be had at Treble Cone!!

Gary, our resident techno genius, has also got one of two new webcams installed at the top of the quad, and another to come at base.  The Quad view gives a valuable armchair insight into the weather in the Saddle on any given day.

THIS WEEK:
This week has also given us four very different and very fun events.  The NZ Snowboarder Banked Slalom with a record field battled it out in some really low viz but the competitors proved their high level of skill!. The Summit Saddle Freeride Challenge on Saturday was super competitive and under the watchful eye of top level judges. This also acted as a qualifier for NZ Free Ski Open and provided great entertainment for the chair ride!  Also over the weekend a big field for the Junior Interfield ski race with TCRA putting on a great event and many young racers taking home some good prizes.  Check the first two out on Facebook with videos and results.   The Interfield race results are on line at Snowsports.  Finally today we just wrapped up the World Heli Challenge Big Air which puts the winner of the Men’s Ski and Snowboard into a coveted spot on the WHC starting next week!!  Image above is ski winner Cam McDirmid.

WHATS HAPPENING:
Looking ahead we are hoping to see a few small fronts come through to continue the snow accumulation and with temperatures remaining low snow enjoyment should be high.   Pictured above is Amandine out with the first women’s ski week .  The ASAP programmes continue right through until mid September – your chance to take your skiing to the next level.  The Wanaka FIS ski race series will be hosted by TCRA over next Friday and Saturday and the first of the Racers Edge Big Air Series kicks off on Saturday 7th  with some great prizes.

MEET SOME SPECIAL PEOPLE:
Meet Leungo and KC, the chiefs of our Food & Beverage team Meet Leungo and KC, the chiefs of our Food & Beverage team in 2010. KC is in her 5th season and a familiar smiley face to many of you. Head of F&B this year her daily goal is a tempting smell and happy atmosphere around the base area.  For Leungo Lippe, our new head chef, the mountain is a refreshing chance to have some great family time and go skiing, neither of which he did much of as founding chef of Botswana Butchery.  He is finding the environment creative and challenging, with the daily feed up for thousand’s a very different scale of operation to what he is used to!  Take the time to check out the new menu and offerings, it’s well worth a taste!  (Insider tip: the Beef Burrito is epic!!)

That’s it for this week, check out the web site and Facebook page for all information on what’s going on and product details.

See you up here soon!!
