Treble Cone FAQ |
|
| |
| What is the access road like, do I need a 4WD and chains to this New Zealand Ski Area? |
| |
| The access road from the Mt Aspiring Road turn off to the base building is 7km long. It is a gravel road that is maintained regularly. A 4WD vehicle is not necessary and it is fine to drive up the road in a 2WD. However we recommend you carry and fit chains when necessary if weather and snow conditions are poor. This will be advertised at the bottom of the road if chains are required. Chains are not available for hire at the bottom of the Treble Cone road. You will need hire or purchase them in Wanaka. They are available for hire from Goodsports or Hirequip. |

| |
| Treble Cone has great learner facilities for children and adults designed to ensure progression to more challenging terrain. The magic carpet (similar to an escalator on a shopping mall) assists those beginning. After they have mastered this they can progress onto the Nice and Easy Platter.
Many of our learner groomed trails (marked on trail map as green lines) have recently been widened, making them less technical and confined. The new wide groomed trails are great for beginners as they can enjoy wider trails to learn to turn, check out these beginner tips
If you have never skied/snowboarded before we suggest you use the
First Timer Package on offer. |

| What do I need to wear on the mountain? |
| |
| Treble Cone lifts take our guests to 1960m above sea level, so we recommend you wrap up warm even on sunny days. We suggest you wear waterproof pants and jacket, a warm hat and waterproof gloves. Eye protection is essential and because of the reflection of the snow, sunscreen is recommended whether a fine day or not.
